Training vs Exercising

Get back on track.  Exercising for the sake of sweat is a valuable tool in many ways.  The hyperthermic feeling has been proven to have a calming effect and raise those vital 'feel good' chemicals.  Along with that, the act of checking out for an hour or so while you pedal or jog along is a well needed and sought after break for many of us.  However, exercising for the sole purpose of sweating or feeling punished are misguided motivators that will leave you with your desired result, but not much more.  Training for the demands of your profession will give you the tools you need to succeed as well as a well deserved soaked shirt.  Moving with purpose in multiple planes of motion and utilizing methods that train anti rotation and deceleration will give a much greater bang for your buck while reinforcing the mechanisms that protect us from fireground injuries. The difference between training and exercising may be the difference between success and injury.  Be prepared for your shift.
